Ian Sampson

Ian is a company director, coach and management consultant. He has worked in senior executive and leadership positions in large organisations for over 30 years. He is a director of four companies and chairs the board of two. He chairs several board committees and also serves on advisory boards for several organisations. He has run a successful consulting business for over 10 years. Ian is committed to assisting managers and directors address complex issues in ways that build organisational and personal capability and confidence.

Ian began his career in industrial relations with companies in the BHP group. He worked in difficult labour environments, developing workable relationships with multiple stakeholders to achieve major change. For many years he served in Human Resources and General Management positions and joined CSR in a similar role in 1999. Since 2004 Ian has advised CEOs, Directors and senior executives in manufacturing, mining, multi-media, aviation, research and development, not-for-profit, construction and engineering, public service and university sectors in Australia, South Africa, Fiji, Papua-New Guinea, the USA and New Zealand.

Much of Ian’s coaching focusses on helping clients discover and develop their identity as leaders and to refine their unique leadership style and approach. Coaching focusses included building personal presence, increasing his relationship building skills with the Board, designing approaches to manage further restructuring of his business and some personal work on his identity as a leader.

Ian lives in Brisbane, is married to Janet and has five adult children and a grandson.
