COACHES

Garth Britton

Garth’s professional experience was gained in a 20 year career with Nestlé, initially in marketing, then in general management. His most recent role was as General Director and Senior Vice-President, Perrier-Vittel S.A. (now Nestlé Waters), based in Paris. There he had responsibility for the management and development of the Nestlé bottled water business in Asia, Oceania, Africa and the Middle East.

Garth has extensive international experience, particularly in Asia, including China. He has been involved in strategy development and change management, evaluating acquisitions and building leadership capability. He has a deep and practical understanding of the challenges of managing across cultures, both for individuals and organisations; of building effective teams across cultural and geographic boundaries and developing leaders who can operate in diverse and difficult conditions.

Garth’s coaching practice has included assignments on leading change; bridging peer manager conflict; building manager confidence and capability to progress to higher levels; and dealing with difficult performance feedback. He has also co-developed and delivered new approaches to the use of group coaching programs in support of broad organisational change objectives.

In addition to his coaching practice, Garth consults widely in organisational and culture change, leadership and strategy in both private and public sectors and teaches a variety of management disciplines. Garth’s doctoral research developed a dynamic model of cultural interactions within organisations. Garth teaches leadership systems and Strategy at QUT.
